Iced Oatmeal Cookies

My grandma used to make these cookies when I was a little girl. I had lost the recipe and just found it a couple weeks ago, so I want to share it with you all.

• Total Time: 1 hrs 5 mins
• Prep Time: 20 mins
• Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients:

Yield: 60 cookies

• 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 ½ tablespoons honey
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 2 cups quick oats

Icing

• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 4 tablespoons milk

Directions:

1. Cream together butter and sugar; add eggs, honey and vanilla.
2. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats.
3. Drop by the teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
4. Bake at 350°F for 6-7 minutes.
5. Mix together powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
6. Cool cookies for about a minute on wire rack, then ice with a thick powdered sugar glaze.

The best oatmeal cookie I have ever made!!! I have been searching for years now for a cookie this good. Thank you so much Baker#1 and your Grandma too! My search is over. My husband doesn't like oatmeal cookies at all and he can stop eating them. I stuck to the recipe exactly and won't change a thing!

I made these according to the recipe- and I must say that I don't even like oatmeal cookies, I only made them because my husband requested them....
yet I can't keep my hands off of them! Best oatmeal cookies!! I think next time I will try them with half a cup less sugar.

I made these once and they were so delicious and came out perfectly. I made them a few days later with 3 parts splenda and one part regular sugar, and they came out horribly. not sure if I made an error somewhere else in the recipe, but Im wouldn't suggest splenda.
