Donut Bread

"turn a slightly stale slice of bread into a jam donut. the taste is just like a donut. makes a great dessert. i saw nigella lawson do this on television"

ingredients

• 29.58 ml milk
• 1 egg
• half tsp vanilla
• 14.79 ml butter
• 29.58 ml olive oil (for frying)
• sugar
• jam
• icing sugar
• 1 slice slightly stale bread

directions

1. mix first 3 ingredients in a bowl, then soak slightly stale bread slice in egg mixture.
2. heat oil and butter in frying bread about 2 minutes on each side until golden. remove to plate.
3. sprinkle with sugar.
4. spread with strawberry jam.
5. sprinkle with icing sugar.
6. can be eaten with a spoon.
7. these are so rich, most will only eat one.
