Easy crock pot recipe that makes tender, savory chunks of beef. Recipe was included in a book that came with my crock pot. You could probably add mushrooms too. The cook time is a guess-timation. The directions actually state to cook on "auto-shift" for 6-7 hours but not all crocks have the "auto-shift" option.
- 1 lb steak (your choice of cut)
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 4 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 1⁄4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup carrot, diced
- 1 cup onion, sliced
- Remove fat from meat and cut into pieces.
- Mix flour and dry mustard together.
- Roll meat in flour mixture.
- Spoon into crock.
- Mix all other ingredients and pour over meat.
- Cook on low for 8 hours.
As delicious as it is healthy. This is safe for my husband (an insulin dependent diabetic on dialysis). Fabulous flavor even without the tsp of salt. Probably takes 10 minutes from gathering the ingredients to closing the lid on the crockpot. Loved it so much, we're making it now to enjoy a 2nd night in a row.
This was easy to put together and had a nice flavor. Cooked on high for 4-5 hours. In the end there was a bit more liquid then I wanted so I added 2 tablespoon of cornstarch. Then I served it over rice. I leave out about 3/4 cup of water the next time I make this.
Easy and delicious crockpot recipe. I added one can of English peas (drained). The whole house smelled so good while this was cooking! Thanks for the recipe!
