This recipe makes just a small amount of creamy, delicious toffee. Very quick and easy to make. A childhood favorite of mine that I've made many times with my mother and German grandmother. I've translated the recipe from a very old and treasured German children's cookbook.

  1. Bring the milk and the sugar to a boil in a pot, stirring constantly and cook until the mixture turns a light-brown color.
  2. Pour the hot mixture onto a sheet of dampened parchment paper.
  3. When the mixture is about halfway set, use a dampened knife to cut it into small squares. Leave to dry completely.
