I am not a fan of coleslaw, but my family is, and they love when I make this. especially when wqe are having, burgers or hot dogs. it is a really refreshing side or condiment for summer.
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
- 1⁄4 cup milk
- 1⁄4 cup buttermilk
- 2 1⁄2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 (10 ounce) packagesfinely shredded cabbage (angel hair)
- 1 carrot, shredded
- Whisk together first 8 ingredients in a large bowl until blended. Add cabbage and carrot to bowl, and toss to coat. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Excellent dressing for coleslaw!! I found that you can add an extra 1/2 bag of coleslaw mix to this dressing as it makes so much!! Went over very well with my friends & family.
Very good and easy too make. It was a bit too sweet for us, but I'll be making it again. We loved the lemon flavor and might add a little more lemon juice next time.
This is a really good cole slaw mixture. I will reduce the sugar next time, just a bit too sweet. <br/>I added 1/2 tsp celery seed and 1/2 tsp of marjoram, and increased the buttermilk by 1/4 cup. I also added 3 minced cloves of garlic, chopped 1/2 of medium onion and 1/2 green bell pepper.<br/>I used a 16oz pre-shredded bag of cabbage for this and it was plenty of sauce. This went really well over pulled bbq pork sandwiches.
