- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 baguette, loaf cut into 12 slices
- 3 cups half-and-half cream
- 5 large eggs
- 1⁄2 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla

Blueberry Sauce
- 2 cups fresh blueberries (or frozen)
- 1⁄4 cup blueberry jam
- 3 tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
directions
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Arrange slices, butter side up in single layer in greased 3 quart dish.
- Heat cream in medium saucepan on medium heat for about 8 minutes until bubbles start to form around edge.
- Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla in large bowl until thick and pale. Slowly add 1/2 cup warm cream, stirring constantly. Slowly add remaining cream, stirring constantly until well combined.
- Pour evenly over bread slices.
- Place baking dish in large roasting pan. Carefully pour boiling water into roaster, until half way up side of baking dish.
- Bake uncovered in 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes until just set.
- Carefully remove baking dish from roasting pan. Let stand 15 minutes.
- Blueberry Sauce: Combine all 5 ingredients in medium frying pan. Bring to a boil on medium high heat, stiring constantly. Boil for about 3 minutes, without stirring, until slightly thickened. Makes about 1 cup of sauce. Spoon over each bread slice in baking dish.
