- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 6 cups water
- 1 1⁄2 cups carrots, cut-up
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1 1⁄2 cups potatoes, cubed
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon browning sauce
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1⁄8 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 dash Tabasco sauce (optional)
- 1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes with juice
directions
- In a large saucepan brown ground beef. Drain fat off.
- Add onions to beef and continue cooking until onions are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in remaining ingredients; heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
