Lovely spongelike apple cake. And as stated not overly sweet. I used walnuts for the topping which was nice and crunchy, thanks for posting.

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan.
  3. Cream butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.
  5. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add dry ingredients to the first mixture alternately with 1 cup sour cream.
  7. Stir in chopped apples.
  8. Spread evenly in greased pan.
  9. Mix together ingredients for nut topping.
  10. Sprinkle over batter.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
