A & P Spanish Bar Cake

My ex Peter Pan used to love this cake, his mother bought for him it twice a week. Don't like him, grew to love the cake.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Blend apple pie filling, eggs, apple pie spice and cloves until smooth.
  3. Place in large bowl.
  4. Add cake mix.
  5. Beat for 4 minutes.
  6. Stir in nuts and raisins.
  7. Pour into a 13 x 9 pan that has been greased and floured or sprayed with Baker's Joy.
  8. Bake for 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out dry.
  9. Cool on rack.
  10. Frost when cool using either of the above recipes.
  11. Or dust with confectioners sugar.
  12. Frosting: For either method: Combine all ingredients.
  13. Beat until creamy and spreadable consistency.

I made this cake using frosting option 2 - my husband told me that it is the best cake he's ever eaten. My kids loved it as well. Thanks for a really great recipe.

A very good cake, however I had to take away a star as it was not the A&P Spanish bar cake I remember. Being lighter in color and texture. Still a good cake. I blended my own apple pie spice. Also the frosting is very good and could be used on any spice cake. I used the scratch version.
