ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (You could also use ground turkey or bison. I have used bison and you cannot even tell the difference)
- 1⁄2 cup celery
- 3⁄4 cup onion
- 1 large green pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon celery seed (or flakes)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomatoes or (8 ounce) can tomato juice
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar (red wine, or apple cider)
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- little bit butter
directions
- Chop up all vegetables.
- brown meat in a little bit of butter. Drain oil or fat if needed from the browned meat.
- Add all ingredients into one large pan.
- Simmer Uncovered for 2 hours until thick.
- Feel free to taste and season to your desire as it simmers after an hour. It all takes time to blend together to get its true flavor. I like to add a bit more vinegar and worcestershire sauce to add a kick.

I am a self-declared train wreck in the kitchen. As a teenager, I told my mother that I was going to marry a man that cooks. Sure enough that prophecy came true. The issue is- I love food. I LOVE to bake. After becoming a mom this year, I have decided to learn to cook. So far, I have not burned down the kitchen or given my family food poisoning! All steps in the right direction. To my husband's amazement I am cooking beautiful dishes, and to my amazement, I am enjoying it!
