The Best Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies!!

"The title says it all!! I can never resist these bits of heavenly bliss! They are best made with a standing Kitchen Aid mixer (other brands are just fine too!). The recipe says to chill for an hour, but I usually chill the dough overnight & I think they taste even better. This recipe is great for if you are making cookies for an event & want to split up the time by making the batter at night & baking them the next day. Please enjoy!"

directions

  • 1. Miss together flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • 2. In a separate bowl (the kitchen aid mixing bowl, if you have the mixer), beat together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar at medium speed until light and fluffy.
  • 3. Beat in egg and vanilla to sugar mix until blended.
  • 4. At low speed, beat in flour mixture until blended. I usually add 1/2, mix, and then add the other 1/2.
  • 5. Fold in oats and chocolate chips. Then cover and chill for at least 1 hours.
  • 6. Preheat oven to 350 F & grease baking sheets.
  • 7. Shape dough into 1-in balls, 2 inches apart. Flatten cookies lightly.
  • 8. Bake until lightly browned around edges, about 10-12 minutes.
  • 9. Cool & watch them disappear!

  1. Hmm... not sure why mine turned out a little different. Everything went well making the dough. I even found it pliable enough to add one cup of craisins in addition to the chocolate. But when baking they spread out a lot and became thin. I think I could easily cut the butter back to 3/4 cup.

  2. I made these for the 3rd time this week last night (it's only Thursday!) and my family and I cannot get enough of them. We were even 1/2 cup short of oats, so I subbed in 2 instant packets of maple brown sugar oatmeal and it was still great! I definitely recommend keeping the recipe as is, but I really don't see how someone couldn't love these! Next time I'm going to try some dark chocolate chips and nuts... YUM!

  3. These were OK. I thought the cinnamon was over-powering and, perhaps a little too heavy on the oats. I won't make them again.

  4. Oh my goodness!! These really are the greatest chocolate chip cookies I have EVER had the joy of eating!

  5. These are the BEST chocolate chip oatmeal cookies I have ever had or made, and both my family and my co-workers agree! I did make two chages - for the sugars, I used 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 cup dark brown, and 3/4 cup white - personal preferance. I also used 1/2 TBSP vanilla, rather than 1 TSP. The cinnamon was a unique and subtle touch, too. overall, wonderful recipe.

I'm a college student who loves to cook, but can't always find the time, or money for ingredients. I also try to be really healthy, so most of what I cook reflects that. I also really, really love spicy foods.
