- Combine sugar, butter, water, and vanilla in a medium sauce pan. Cook over low to medium heat, stirring constantly, to hard crack stage (300 degrees). Remove from heat and pour onto a greased cookie sheet. While hot, cover with chocolate chips. Spread when melted. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Break into pieces when cooled.

Delicious!! This is a wonderful English toffee recipe. I make an English toffee that has been a family favorite for many years, but this recipe is much quicker, easier and very yummy! I used blanched, chopped almonds for the nuts and it turned out perfect. Thank you for sharing this fabulous recipe...it is definitely a keeper!! **Made for PAC Spring 2013**
