ingredients
- 2⁄3 cup water
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
directions
- Place all the ingredients in the bread maker in the order they are listed.
- Use the BASIC BAKE setting.

The loaf was definitely too small for my bread machine but it had excellent texture and flavor. In my opinion, not many things beat a piece of fresh warm bread with a little butter and honey. I will use this recipe again because it is so easy but next time I will use the bread machine for mixing and rising and bake the bread in my oven. Made for PAC, Spring 2008

This makes a lovely very light crumb. After reading the other reviews I decided to form the loaf into a small round loaf. It rose beautifully and made such a lovely loaf. It is a very good recipe which I will double next time to make a large loaf so that I can bake it in a regular loaf pan. I used the bread maker to mix, knead and rise then removed it for baking in the oven. Made for PAC Spring 2013

It's definitely a small loaf and very good, Super easy to make, as stated in the other reviews. Ideal for sandwiches. My great grand kids like the fun we had in doing this one with me. We Thank You !! This clearly proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks!! We made this for our Spring Pick-A-Chef for the kids 2013
