Sweet Rye Bread

"This was from a friend at Hope Lodge. Yes, we sat around talking about recipes guys. It was a lot of fun, a lot of laughing, a lot of remembering. I haven't tried it yet."

• Ingredients: 11
• Yields: 1 loaf

ingredients

• 1 cup milk, scalded
• 1⁄2 cup molasses
• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 3 teaspoons yeast
• 4 tablespoons butter
• 1 1⁄2 cups rye meal
• 2 cups white flour
• 1 egg white
• 1 tablespoon water
• 1 teaspoon caraway seed

directions

1. Combine hot milk, molasses, brown sugar and salt. and butter.
2. Cool mixture to lukewarm; . Add yeast to cooled milk.
3. Add flours to make a stiff dough.
4. Let double; punch down.
5. Put cornmeal under.
6. Brush with egg white and 1 tablespoon water.
7. Sprinkle with caraway seed.
8. Slash the dough before baking.

Amount of flour is inaccurate. Should be 5 or 6 cups.
