This is the best prime rib my family has ever tasted. It was so easy to prepare. I didn't have onion powder, so I used garlic powder and it was great. It wasn't too spicy for my kids to eat like I was concerned about. I used soaked hickory chips to add to the smokey flavor. Great recipe. I'll use this many more times, I'm sure.

My first rib roast and now I never have to go out to get prime rib. I used a 4 lb roast and cooked it for 3 1/2 hours @ 200 and it came out between medium rare and medium. Perfect! Will use this recipe again and again. PS: I used spiced cherry wood. Update: I just cooked a 6.6 lbs. ribeye roast @ 200 for 5 hours and it was perfectly pink all the way through.
