  1. I made this yesterday for a Grey Cup party, and got rave reviews - in fact the crock pot was cleaned out before half of the people at the party got to have any. I loved the fact that it didn't have any unusual ingredients, I was able to find everything I needed in my kitchen. I didn't have tomato paste so I substituted an equal amount of tomato sauce. When the roast was cooked through (9 hours for a 3lb roast) I pulled it out of the crock, let the insert cool down an bit, and then popped the insert in the deep freeze for about 15 - 20 minutes so the fat would congeal and be easy to skim off the top. I will definitely make this recipe again - thanks!
