- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
directions
- Mix three ingredients together thoroughly.
- Use 1 teaspoon of this mixture for each teaspoon of Royal or single-acting baking powder called for in a recipe.
- Do NOT use this mixture in recipes calling for double-acting baking powder.
- Store leftover mixture in a covered container.

I was cleaning out some old recipe cards and found this recipe and was going to post it. Of course, it's already here. I got mine in the early 80's from Gloria Pitzer's newsletter. She was doing copycat recipes when Todd Wilbur was still eating his crayons. I've used this recipe many times. Royal Baking Powder was THE baking powder for decades. This recipe makes 12 teaspoons, BTW.
