1. What can I say about this pie other than delicious? I can say fast, and I can say easy, lol! With the streusel topping it's like a great apple crisp. I used granny smith apples and they held up perfectly. Oh! My only mistake was forgetting to put a pan covered in foil on the lower oven rack. Oh, what a mess in the bottom of the oven, lol! But after tasting the pie, the mess didn't matter. Thanks for a great recipe, Mirj!

 2. This a very good recipe. It isn't gourmet like stated but it tastes as though it is. I used 4 large Granny Smith apples and continued with the recipe. The pie was cooked in my oven after 55 minutes. We all enjoyed this dessert; my husband even thought that it reminded him of his mother's apple pie. Thanks for posting Mirj.

 3. Simply delicious! I made this at Thanksgiving using six Granny Smith apples. I made it the day before and DH was complaining he had to wait a day to eat it. I sent the recipe home with some of the guests and I will be making this again. You could say this is my new favourite dessert to make. It doesn't get any easier.

 4. If that isn't gourmet, then nothing is! Everyone who tried it went nuts. I did have to bake 80-90 min. though to get the bottom to come out right. DAVE

 5. Wow, this was absolutely delicious! You may not want to call it "gourmet", but I'd certainly be pleased to serve this for dessert at a dinner party. The directions are easy to follow and, other than the time it took to prepare the apples, it came together quickly. I used 6 rather large macintosh apples, which worked out to be exactly 6 cups of sliced apples. I prepared this in my large deep-dish Pyrex glass pie plate, which worked well and I had no spillover; 65 minutes in the oven and it was done to perfection. The only change I made (other than to use Penzey's apple pie spice instead of the cinnamon and nutmeg) was to omit the nuts in the streusel (DS hates nuts, y'see) and substitute 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut. Terrific! Thanks for posting, Mirj; I'll be making this dessert often.

Well, I've been happily married, happily divorced, and happily married once again. (Wanna see wedding pictures? I'm married to a brilliant man with the most yummy British accent (this is the part where he rolls his eyes and says, Yeah, yeah, yeah). Let's call him Sushiman, even though he hates that name. Chia gave him that nickname when I was trying to create a dinner to show off my culinary talents. I posted here on Zaar with questions about the menu and since sushi was the main focus of the meal, he became Sushiman. That dinner was just the first of what I hope will become a lifetime of meals together.

This is a picture of us taken in September 2005 in Kew Gardens in London. Sushiman has 4 kids of his own, so together that makes us a family of ten, together with my dog and my step-dog (sadly, since I first wrote this my step-dog, Honey, crossed the Rainbow Bridge). We're the Brady Bunch on speed. Not all eight live with us, but everyone is in and out all of the time, so we're thinking about replacing our front door with one of those revolving thingies.

If you need help figuring out the whole complicated mess, you can check out <a title=Miriyummy -- A Guide to the Perplexed href=http://miriyummy.wordpress.com/about/ target=_blank>Miriyummy, A Guide to the Perplexed.

Here are my four beauties -- from left to right: Adiya, Sara, Nomi and Tehila

On March 18, 2009, my oldest, Sara, got married to Ariel.
