the only way to make this better is to grate sharp cheese over the top and let it melt just before serving..it's a wonderful taste combination

This was really good. I didn't have any buttermilk so I used the buttermilk substitute of 1 cup milk and 1 Tbs. of lemon juice ( you could use vinegar also). After I mixed this up real good, I let it sit 10 minutes before adding the liver. I though just the flour alone wouldn't be very tasty so to the flour I added salt, pepper and onion powder. I can't believe how tender the liver stayed. I ever so slightly over browned some of them but the liver was still tender. I'll be adding this to my other liver recipes. Thanks so much for posting.

I prepared these exactly like you said, my husband almost ate the whole pound by himself. Great recipe!

Excellent recipe! I used some paprika and garlic salt in the flour for a little more zip. The buttermilk was the clincher though.

Wonderful recipe. I have never had chicken livers quite this tasty before. Buttermilk gives it a wonderful crust. My son loved it too. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
