Fast & Easy Low Fat Drop Biscuits

"These are easy and fast to make in your food processor (though you could do it by hand). They are slightly non-traditional biscuits in that they don't use shortening, but they are very tasty and work great when dunked into soup."

directions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • Put the flour, baking powder& baking soda, and salt into your food processor.
  • (Or you can do it by hand. The food processor is much easier, though.) Pulse once or twice to mix.
  • Then add the oil and pulse a few times until it appears mixed.
  • Add the sour cream and pulse until the dough comes together (sort of into a ball but not really).
  • Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet you have sprayed with non-stick spray.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

  1. I was very surprised how good these turned out. I used Greek yogurt instead of the sour cream. It worked great. For an easy pot pie, I spooned them over pre-cooked chicken, veggies, and low fat gravy.

  2. Very easy to make but they didn't have much flavor but also didn't taste like diet biscuits. Next time I was wondering about putting the balls of dough into a round cake pan for pull apart biscuits -- I think they would work well this way. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Excellent recipe! I just wish my food processor attachment were larger. Thank you for the recipe!

  4. These were easy to do in the food processor - so quick. However, I had a difficult time telling when they were done. And the taste was a bit bland for me. I did add some thyme, parsely and salt to a few and that helped.

  5. I should have listened and made them in the food processor, I made 1/2 a recipe to use on creamed chicken baked in the oven, and they came out very nicely. I then rebaked them on top of the chicken and sprinkled with reggiano grated. it was very good.....
