Cold Dog Salad

- 8 hot dogs (any variety)
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed
- 1⁄2 lb penne pasta
- 1⁄4 cup brown mustard
- 1⁄4 cup ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup relish
- 1⁄2 teaspoon chili powder
directions
- Cook pasta according to directions and set aside.
- Cut hotdogs on the diagonal into 1/4 inch pieces and combine in a mixing bowl with the chilli powder until pieces are evenly coated.
- In a pan on high heat, brown both/all sides of the dogs.
- Add hotdogs to the pasta with the beans and remaining condimants and cool in refrigerator for 4 hours. Could also be served hot I suppose.
- Try adding chopped tomatoes too. Also good to try without ketchup and adding saurkraut and extra mustard.

Really liked this, and what a cute idea. Would be fun for a picnic with burgers. I like the idea of main dish salads and this was nice with the beans also. The one thing that I did change was to add about 1/2 cup of mayo and reduced the ketchup and mustard to about a tablespoon each. I thought that was really nice. I'm not sure if I would like the sauce otherwise.
