  • Put sugar and 1 cup water into a small saucepan and brin to a boil. Cook for 1 minute until sugar has dissolved. Turn off heat and allow sugar syrup to cool.
  • In a pitcher, combine cooled syrup with lemon juice and remaining 2 cups of water and mix well. Fill a Champagne flute halfway with the lemonade and top with champagne. Garnish with a lemon slice.

  1. I didn't have the ingredients to make this fresh lemonade when I wanted to try it, but I had some sparkling pink lemonade on hand, so I used that. Along with the champagne it was really bubbly, which was fine, but I think it diluted some of the flavor potential. When I do it again, I'll go for straight lemonade. To top this perfect summertime cocktail off I dropped a couple fresh strawberries in the flutes - not only did it look pretty but the strawberries soaked up the liquid and were yummy afterward. For a quick fix it was really good and I can't wait to try it Kathy's way!
