Base
- 1⁄2 cup butter (3/4 for 9x13)
- 1 cup flour (1 1/2 for 9x13)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (3 for 9x13)

Filling
- 2 eggs, beaten (3 for 9x13)
- 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar (2 1/4 for 9x13)
- 1⁄2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal (3/4 for 9x13)
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt (plus a little more for 9x13)
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder (3/4 for 9x13)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (1 1/2 for 9x13)
- 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts (3/4 for 9x13)
directions
- For base: Cut butter into flour and brown sugar until crumbly. Press into 9x9-inch buttered pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes.
- Mix filling ingredients well. Pour over partially baked crumb layer. Return to oven and cook 20 minutes more.
- Cool before cutting into squares to serve.

I love to knit, smock, sew, etc., but my favorite hobby of the moment is traditional rug hooking. This is a sample of what I do.? It's called "November".? I dyed most of the wool myself. It is made from wool flannel, cut into strips a little less than 1/4" and then worked into a linen backing. This is my 3rd rug.
