Beef N'Potato Bake

  • 4 cups frozen hash browns, thawed (I used the shredded kind)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 18 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 packages brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 12 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can fried onions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a shallow 1 1/2 quart baking dish, combine oil, hash browns and pepper.
  • Press firmly to sides and bottom of dish.
  • Bake uncovered@ 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • Brown beef, drain.
  • Stir in gravy pkgs, water, garlic salt.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Add veggies and reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in 1/2 cheese and 1/2 can fried onions.
  • Bake 15 minutes@ 350 degrees.
  • Sprinkle remainder of cheese and onions on top and bake another 5 minutes.

  1. Not bad. Good for a quick meal on a busy night. I had to add some water with the gravy packets, because the mixture became so dry. Overall it was pretty good. No one raved about it, but everyone ate it! :-)

I discovered the 'Zaar a many years ago. I love making/experimenting with recipes with "different" ingredients. On Fridays I usually have small "happy hour" get togethers and use my guests as guinea pigs for new recipes. They love it!
