Applesauce Cake

"This applesauce cake has been with my family for a while now, and until just recently had been thought lost. This is my favorite applesauce cake because of how simple it is. Although there are many recipes for applesauce cake on Recipezaar and the web in general, this recipe is different because the applesauce and the cinnamon are the stars"

• Yields: 1 cake
• Serves: 6-8

ingredients

• 3 cups flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1 1⁄2 cups vegetable oil
• 2 eggs
• 1 (16 ounce) jar applesauce
• 1⁄4 cup butter, melted
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon

directions

1. Sift dry ingredients together into large mixing bowl.
2. Make well in center and add wet ingredients.
3. Beat for 4 minutes.
4. Pour into greased bunt pan and bake at 350 for one hour.
5. Mix last 4 ingredients with enough milk to make it ‘drippy’ – it doesn’t take much.
6. Spread on cake while it is still warm.
