ingredients
- 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans (drained)
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 1⁄8 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄2 cup tahini
- 1⁄2 cup water or 1/2 cup bean liquid, from can
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic granules or 4 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 tomatoes (to garnish)
- 1 piece lettuce (to garnish) or 1 piece parsley (to garnish)

Optional
- 1⁄2 teaspoon paprika or 1/2 teaspoon mild chili powder
directions
- Blend all ingredients on high until creamy.
- Garnish with sliced tomato and a piece of lettuce or parsley.
- *For a dressing, double the water.

The name of the recipe says it all! This truly is a yummy hummus recipe. I made it with the optional chili powder, which gave it just the perfect touch of chili flavor. I needed to add a little (tablespoon or so) of olive oil to thin to my preferred consistancy. I can't wait to try it with some roasted garlic or roasted peppers for a different taste. I served it with carrots, but I think this would also be a great sandwich spread. Thanks for posting!

This may be my new favorite hummus recipe. It is very flavorful. I did leave out the onion powder because I couldn't find mine and instead used 1 t onion salt (so didn't use any regular salt). I also wanted it somewhat thinner so used about 3/4 C bean liquid/water. I dipped pieces of olive bread into it, and it was a wonderful dinner.

Update: We've moved back to the states, and are experiencing the joys of living in Wenatchee, WA for the first time! I'm spending most of my time in the kitchen canning, freezing, and drying fruit now and loving it!
We are a couple, Jason and Mollie, that loves to cook together. We have two wonderful DD's, Enjoli (9) and Emily (7) that make life so much more fun! I, Mollie, studied Nutrition so I try to make most of our meals healthy while still tasting great! Our girls love helping us cook...and eat! We're vegetarian and love eating healthy without missing any flavor! We try to eat mostly vegan, so we have many vegan recipes posted. We are world traveling missionaries and students that have visited many countries and have lived in the States, South Korea, and are currently in the Philippines. So we always need to adjust our menu based on the food available. Zaar has been a tremendous help!
