- 1360.77 g ground beef (can sub ground poultry)
- 453.59 g sausage
- 236.59 ml onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- salt and pepper
- 2 (340.19 g) can tomato paste
- 2 (566.99 g) can rotel (original)
- 2 (609.51 g) can tomato puree
- 2 (793.78 g) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (822.13 g) can stewed tomatoes
- 2 (850.48 g) can tomato sauce
- 59.14 ml red wine
- 24.64 ml basil
- 4.92 ml oregano
- 1 bay leaf, broken in half
- 2.46 ml garlic salt
- 4.92-9.85 ml sugar (optional)
directions
- in a large skillet, brown ground meat, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Two batches may be necessary.
- Drain well.
- Transfer to a 12 quart stockpot and stir in remaining ingredients.
- Simmer 1 or 2 hours uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reaches the thickness you like.
- Cool, package in meal size servings and freeze.
