I got this recipe off the net about a year ago and it is a favorite in this house! They are always gone within a day or two, they are just fabulous!
- 2 cups quick oats
- 1 1⁄4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Mix dry ingredients (other than choc chips).
- Cream shortening, peanut butter, and sugars in seperate bowl.
- Beat eggs and vanilla into shortening and sugar mix.
- Add dry mix.
- Blend chocolate chip in (is a bit tough but well worth it!).
- Bake 11-13 minute.
I made these cookies for a family reunion in Mississippi. Now I am sending the recipe to family members in Indiana and Florida. Everyone raved about these cookies. I found that it is best to transfer the baked cookie from the cookie sheet to a plate instead of a wired rack to cool. I used 1 stick of butter and 1/2 cup of shortening instead of 1 cup of shortening which resulted in a buttery flavor.
I never write reviews, and joined this network solely to write this one! This is really the best cookie recipe ever. They are so good I have to get them out of my house or I will eat them all!!! Thank you for sharing the recipe!
I made them just how they were suppose to made with no alterations and they are super delicious! I noticed a bump in my supply the same day.
