The Best Beef Brisket

This recipe was given to me by my mother in law. It is by far the best brisket/sauce that I have ever tried!

  1. Trim fat on briskett.
  2. Soak brisket for 30 minutes in water.
  3. Drain.
  4. Sprinkle meat with kosher salt and let sit 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse meat well.
  6. Braise meat in olive oil until brown, approximately 8 minutes per side.
  7. Reduce heat and add onions.
  8. Brown.
  9. Add garlic.
  10. Remove meat.
  11. Add all ingredients for sauce.
  12. Stir well.
  13. Put meat back in pan and simmer covered for approximately 3 hours.
  14. Remove meat and reduce sauce.

I had company coming and I hadn't had a brisket in ages so I decided on this one, and man, am I glad I did! The brisket was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was in all honesty the best I have had! I plan to use it on some baby backs next!
