Sweet and Sour Sauce

"Good very basic sauce. It was posted in the Winnipeg Free Press many years ago, but is still a favorite. I think it is the basic sauce you get in chinese restaurants."

• Yields: 2 cups

ingredients

• 3⁄4 cup water
• 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
• 1⁄3 cup vinegar
• 1⁄3 cup ketchup
• 1 tablespoon soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons cornstarch
• 3 tablespoons water

directions

1. Mix together water, sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and soy sauce.
2. Mix cornstarch and water together and add to sauce.
3. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
