From an old Cookie Bake-off Cookbook...very yummy and so easy

Made these for coffee hour (froze them for a few days first). This was fun to make (felt very old fashioned to boil the mixture on the stove). I barely had enough to spread in my jelly roll pan, but it did puff up fine. The topping is wonderful and adds so much to the bars. These really are unique tasting. They almost reminded me of flavor of a Shoofly pie (despite not having any molasses). These were very well received by the church members. These are delicious with a cup of tea/coffee. I do hope more people will enjoy this recipe, too. Roxygirl
