Peanut Butter Sheet Cake

"This simple-to-make, peanut-buttery recipe always wins rave reviews. Applesauce and water makes the cake super-moist and the fudgy frosting is deliciously decadent. And since it makes about 24 servings, it's great for potlucks and parties."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine the first four ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and mix in remaining ingredients.
  • Pour into a lightly greased jelly roll pan and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, make peanut butter icing by bringing first three ingredients to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and blend in enough powdered sugar and vanilla to make icing smooth and creamy but not incredibly thick.
  • Frost the cake after it has cooled, or if you prefer you can place dollops of icing all over the warm cake and allow it to melt all over the surface.
