Onion Appetizer
- Ready In:
- 1hr 10mins
- Ingredients:
- 6
- Yields:
-
1 onion
ingredients
- 1 onion
- 3 tablespoons au jus sauce, paste (or beef if you cant find Au Jus whic is the problem I usually have)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- aluminum foil
- potato chips or bread
- provolone cheese
directions
- Place onion on a square sheet of foil (2 - 3 sheets actually works best). Slice onion horizontally and then vertically so that you have little squares. DO NOT cut all the way through, you want the onion still intact and standing upright. Using as much or as little butter as you want, slice butter into slices and stuff into the squares. Then scoop Au Jus base and stuff into squares as well. You want a good amount on the onion but don't over do it because it will be very salty. I don't use measurements so eyeball it. Once that is done, fold foil over onion into a packet. Make sure there are no holes or the good stuff will leak out. Place packet on grill and let cook for about 1 hour. You could probably do this in the oven as well.
- When onion is done it will be translucent.
- Cut onion into bite size pieces and place small amount on chip or bread. Top with cheese. MMM -- .

My name is K.C. and I'm originally from Florida but hubby is in the Navy so now we live in Maryland. A big change for sure but the four seasons are so beautiful, I never knew what I was missing. I love to be active and spontaneous. I also like cooking (well duh right?). Not a great cook YET but I'm new at this and it is fun just to learn and try all kinds of different ideas. My husband thinks he's a great cook (pssst just between you and me it all taste the same) which is why I started cooking to get a different variety of foods going in our house. He jokes around and calls himself chef boy r bellin so I figured I'd honor his attempts with my name (lol). He hasn't been dissapointed yet by any of my recipes. I never told him that they were ALL from here. This site is amazing and I'm so glad I found it, it has been a life saver and makes me look good :)
