A delicious old family recipe- kids love them and can easily help you make them! The recipe requires a British ingredient- golden syrup. "King" make a golden syrup in the US or the British brand, "Lyle's", can be found in many International food aisles.

  1. Turn on the oven to 350°F
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in golden syrup, then vanilla. Then stir in the boiling water.
  4. Fold in the flour and oats.
  5. Roll the mixture into little golf-ball sized balls.
  6. Place on a greased baking tray.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
  9. Decorate with icing or any other topping.

These are really simple to make,from very basic store cupboard items..and they taste delicious! This is just the sort of cookie that my family loves,and this was no exception..thumbs up all round!
