  1. In medium mixing bowl cream shortening, butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar.
  2. Add egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add flour, soda, salt and oats.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Stir in raisins, dates, and chopped nuts.
  7. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake in preheated 325F degrees CONVECTION OVEN for 12-15 minutes or bake in preheated 350F degrees RADIANT BAKE OVEN for 12-15 minutes , or until light golden brown.
  9. Repeat with remaining dough.
  10. Cool on wire racks.

Some of us like raisins and some don't, so I made them both ways. They are really good. Thanks for the recipe.
