Naan Bread Pizza

"I just bought Nigella Lawson's latest cookbook, 'Nigella Express' which has a recipe for Naan Pizza. The only ingredient I had in was the naan, but I liked the idea and adapted the recipe to fit the ingredients I had in my fridge and larder. The recipe is very versatile and you could play with all kinds of toppings, for example using pizza sauce instead of the pesto, using a different cheese or adding mushrooms. This makes a great snack or even a quick and easy dinner if served with a side salad, it would even make a nice appetizer to share. Oviously you can double, trebble or quadrouple the recipe to meet your needs."

  1. Naan makes the perfect pizza crust IMO. It's great to have on hand in the freezer and simply throw on whatever you have. I did not make the recipe exact, I used olive oil, grilled zucchini and mushrooms, mozzarella, provolone and a few crumbles of gorgonzola on top. In summer it's too hot to use my oven and one naan fits right into my toaster oven. Gourmet pizza taste at a fraction of the price, while I clear things out of my fridge!

  2. What a great pizza. Made using homemade pesto and topped with fresh mozzerlla, tomatoes and basil. Delicious! Thank you for posting. Made for 2013 Zaar Cookbook tag game.

  3. I discovered this great base idea when my supermarket had closed their pizza counter early and made my own DIY version with naan bread. Realy is a great base when you considered the variety of naan's out there. I use Levi Roots bbq sauce for the base and lob on chorizo ham red onions what ever my firdge contains.

  4. I always knew Nigella was a smart woman - I've been making pizza from naan bread for years! LOL I love to play around with toppings for these; recently I had some Saag Paneer leftover from dinner out so spread it on a piece of Naan, and topped with shredded Monterey jack cheese then baked. It was delish! Your ingredient choices sound excellent and I am definitely going to try them soon! Thanks! :)

  5. This was yummy, but I must admit that I left out the olives (personal preference). Instead of using pesto, I used a tbsp of pasta sauce as well as shredded fresh basil over. I don't know why, but I was still hungry after eating! Thanks anyway:)
