Meatballs Appetizer

"In the sauce it is 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning. It will for some reason not show up. Got this from a friend many years ago. Can doctor up with spice when making the meatballs to your liking. I always add fresh garlic to the meat mixture along with a dash of red pepper flakes. The sauce is excellent. Not sure how many it serves exactly. They are one of the first things that go at our parties. I simmer in my crockpot."

  1. I cut this down by a quarter and made this for dinner. I used 3 cloves of fresh garlic, and subbed some appelmoes (Dutch applesauce) for the apple jelly (that I can't get here) I used Recipe#173865 for the italian seasoning .. and was heavy handed with it ! DH was fairly lukewarm about the sauce while I was making it ...Dutch folks are raised to eat appelmoes and eat as if it were a vegetable, he must be the only one in this country that hates the stuff.. and anything tomato-ey gets the evil eye from him too.. but as usual I told him to keep an open mind and when these came out of the oven he liked them so much that he went back for seconds and wanted leftovers for lunch tomorrow. For me I liked the sauce too, but would beef up the actual meatballs substantually with more herbs and maybe something like allspice or cardamom and herbs for extra flavour. Please see my Rating System: 4 excellent stars for letting me get appelmoes successfully past DH and for a meatball recipe that I will be pleased to make again... Thanks !

  2. These are extremely nice! I used very lean ground meat, sweet onions & winter wheat breadcrumbs, all with great results! Great sauce, too, & I had a small jar of homemade apple jelly, so used that! Very much a favorite for my small group! I am a real estate agent along with my husband, Mike. I enjoy meeting people and helping them sell or find a home. I have been happily married for 27 years. We have 1 daugther and 3 grandsons. My favorite recipes are from Paula Deen. I love to cook and eat -- that is why I workout 5 to 6 times a week. I enjoy Bible study, cooking, working out at the gym and reading. My husband and I love spending time with our grandsons who live about 45 miles from us. We are quick to give Our Heavenly Father credit for all the wonderful blessings in our life. My pet peeves are greed and people who are always late. I love this site and it is so much fun. I have met many nice chefs while participating in the contests. I think it is unfair when chefs change an original recipe and then give a low rating. The way I will rate recipes: 5***** Delicious Recipes that we enjoyed and will want to have again and again. 4****Recipes that I would make again but make some changes. 3***Recipes that I would probably not try again without some major changes. I will not give a 1 or 2 rating as I know that the chefs that took time to enter the recipe felt it was deserving to share. I just have different tastes than them. <a href="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/?action=view¤t=curriedcurrajongs.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/curriedcurrajongs.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/boronia.jpg"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/AussieRecipeSwap.gif"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/Cooking-Kangaroo-1-1.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PACfall08partic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/IWasAdoptedfall08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/7016b640.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/my3chefsnov2008.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/AMpageSticker.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/CookathonforKarensticker.jpg"><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/KBparticipation.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TagRed-STKR.jpg"><img src=http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/bleupantry/RecipeZaar%20and%20other%20Food/Top%20Favs%20of%202008%20GAME/ParticipationBanner.jpg><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"><img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg">
