  • Whisk together the balsamic vinegar, vegetable oil,sugar, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and basil. Toss evenly. Cover and chill in refrigerator at least 3 hours.

  1. I made this today, minus the onions and basil (neither the Mister nor I eat them), and it is delicious! I marinated it for about 5 hours before trying, but it was wonderful, and the smell is lovely. Thanks for sharing! (I also cut up larger tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes just don't seem to have that 'real' tomato taste, to me!)

  4. What a great find! This was an easy, healthy delicious salad. The fresh basil really took it to a new level. We chopped up big vine tomatoes in lieu of cherry, but otherwise left the recipe untouched. This is good enough to serve to company for a summer barbecue. This has already become a favourite on our table!
