"Much like a butterscotch brownie, with maple flavor. And only one bowl is needed! I just made these and the house smells wonderful!"

  1. O.K. I let these bars sit for an extra day, to decide if the taste had gotten any better. And you know what they did. :)I think if you want to make this recipe, you may want to make them at least a day or two before you need them. That way the flavors have time to meld. When I first rated them earlier on 11/8/10, the taste was just o.k. but now they are really pretty good. This is my OP,First, let me start off by saying this " I'm pleased to be the first one to make this recipe. :). I was looking for something different in a bar and came across this recipe. It looked intriguing with the Maple flavoring, so I thought " Why Not ? ".So I followed the recipe exactly as it was written. There waw a bit of confusion about the type of flour used, since there wasn't any baking soda or salt in the recipe I used self-rising. After the baking time of 30 minutes, I checked and decided to add about 10 more minutes. Even after that time, the bars were still not quite done ( the crumbs on the toothpick came out really doughy ". I was afraid to add more baking time to the bars, but I added about 5 more minutes. They seemed to come out o.k. But I was expecting more of a Maple taste and it wasn't there. But thanks for posting any way and, " Keep Smiling :) "

I have lived all over the USA but my heart is in the MidWest. I bake for fun, to the point where I have to keep a rolodex of people to give things to in order to spread it around!
