Betty's Brown Sugar Gum Drop Brownies

ingredients
- 2⁄3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine
- 2 1⁄4 cups brown sugar (1 pound)
- 3 eggs
- 2 2⁄3 cups sifted flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1 (13 ounce) package spice gumdrops
directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 cookie pan with at least 3/4-inch sides.
- Melt butter in microwave, just to melting point.
- Stir in brown sugar with mixer; then eggs, one at a time, stirring in well between.
- Add flour, salt and baking powder; mix well.
- By hand, stir in nuts and gumdrops.
- Spread on cookie sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
- When almost cool, cut into 1x3-inch bars.

I love to knit, smock, sew, etc., but my favorite hobby of the moment is traditional rug hooking. This is a sample of what I do.? It's called "November".? I dyed most of the wool myself. It is made from wool flannel, cut into strips a little less than 1/4" and then worked into a linen backing. This is my 3rd rug.
