Hot and Spicy Chex Mix

"This mix has a bit of a bite from the original, but feel free to add/delete as much of the tabasco or redpepper sauce as fits your style. Microwave instructions follow the normal baking instructions."

  1. TIP: Melt butter in a microwave measuring cup. Then stir liquids and spices in melted butter. Then pour over cereal mix in roasting pan and mix well. This works a lot better than melting butter in roasting pan and trying to mix as original instruction indicate. :)

  2. The order of the recipe is wrong... should’ve poured the seasoning/butter OVER THE MIX. There’s also WAY too much Chex mix and not enough sauce.

  3. I just realized I haven't reviewed this yet! I have made this several times and its fantastic! 1,000 times better than anything you can buy. I don't like very spicy foods, and this recipe isn't. Of course you can make it as spicy as you want though. Tip: definitely use real butter, HUGE difference!

  4. Delicious!! I took Rickoholic's advice & added an extra teaspoon of both Tabasco & chili powder & also used the Hot n Spicy Cheez-its. Instead of pretzels I used Chili-Cheese Fritos & they were a great compliment! We couldn't stop eating this stuff! Thanks CoffeeB!

  5. Meh, it's an ok recipe. I'd never used chili powder in a snack mix before, so I thought I'd try it, but really didn't care for the flavor. My daughter who normally likes some heat in her food, asked me to cut back on the Tabasco next time. I found the finished mix was too dry also. I would add 2 Tblsp of butter and another Tblsp of Worsteshire.
