  1. Yum! Love the pumpernickel bread when I can get it.

  2. Very tasty!! I think a good pumpernickel bread is crucial here. There is another grilled cheese recipe here on Z, sorry, can't remember which one off the top of my head, that says to use mayo on the outside of the bread instead of butter. I did that and it sure makes for crispy yumminess! I also used 3 thin slices of ham. Next time, I may add a wee bit of sauerkraut to the sammy as well. Thanks for posting Leah. 3. I thought these sandwiches were fabulous. I enjoyed the flavor combination of gouda cheese with smoked ham. I used thin slices of gouda and the cheese melted perfectly for me...no problems. I think the pumpernickel bread is a must. It complements the other flavors perfectly!! This was delicous. Danke! ~Made for ZWT 6 Zee Zany Zesty Cookz~

  4. This was a nice change of pace from the usual grilled cheese sandwich. Rather than use pumpernickel, I used a dark multi-grain bread. I also used about 3 thin slices of ham and 3 thin slices of Gouda. The cheese melted perfectly, and the dill pickles were a nice touch. This made for a nice treat for lunch. Thanks for sharing this. 5. This is a very good sandwich! I prefered the gouda with the ham much more then swiss or cheddar, and the bread is a perfect compliment. One thing I found was the cheese took longer then normal to melt (and my slice were not thick), the first sandwhich the bread was fully grilled and the cheese unmelted, so I pulled out the cheese and microwaved it and then spread it in the sandwich. The second one I turned the heat to the lowest seating and cooked much longer with a cover on the pan, towards the end I took off the lid and turned up the heat a little so the bread would be crispy. My friend enjoyed the dill pickle , she said it really perked it up. I had mine with cucumber chip pickles on the side. Thanks Leah for sharing! Made by an Unruly for ZWT 6.

I love to cook, for me it is both relaxing and fun, especially when there are no time limits! I started baking when I was around 9. I began with making bread then I gradually went on to making meals. Besides cooking and baking I love to knit, paint, sew, and study languages my favorite being Arabic which maybe someday I will actually be able to speak. Most of the recipes I post are family favorites or at least my favorites. My ratings go something like this: 5 stars: Very good, I will definitely make this again. 4 stars: Liked it quite a bit and will make it again but there was either something I had to change or I will only make now and then in the future. If it is lower than these two there is something wrong with the recipe (b/c I'm not picky at all!) and I'll just leave you a comment.:) I hope you enjoy the recipes I post and thank you for your reviews!
