  • Cut tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick slices; chill them.
  • Place two eggs into bowl; mix.
  • Put flour into bowl.
  • Place oil into cast iron skillet and heat.
  • Take tomatoes and dip ito egg mix and then into flour (cover both sides with flour) and then into skillet. Cook to golden brown, turning as needed. Add salt to taste as cooking. Keep on platter in oven and serve hot.

  1. This recipe is exceptional! A must try in my opinion!!! A nice flavor and the crisp fried tomatoes are a welcome addition to any table. A good way to use up produce at summers end! Nice for a side dish and I could make a meal out of them myself!!!!

  3. We have been making these in my family since I can remember. My mother absolutely loves them! The only thing we do different is to add lots of black pepper to the flour (tomatoes and pepper goes so good together). Fried green Tomatoes are wonderful in the summertime! Thanks for posting P.S. Snowman is right it HAS to be a cast iron skillet!

I live in ILL. have retired as a deputy sheriff. I love to cook I make one nice breakfast meal that when done no other meal will be needed for the day. i love dogs .like to play bingo,remodle homes ,build streetrods,stockcars. My big love is good food all kinds Ican't do rice yet (68-69)bad years vietnam loved rice before that maybe sometime.like to vist with people and traveland see other types of food and how its fix and test it
