Yummy! No need to say more. Just put on top of German Chocolate Cake Mix (made by directions on box of course)! This recipe is smaller than some, and don't worry if it kind of drips down.
- 2⁄3 cup evaporated milk
- 2⁄3 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1⁄3 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut
- Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter and vanilla in saucepan.
- Cook over low-medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil, about 5 minutes.
- Continue boiling, stirring constantly, about 2 more minutes or until mixture turns caramel color.
- Add coconut. Cool.
- Frost your cake!
My mom made this recipe to top a German Chocolate cake when I was a little girl, and it is absolutely delicious and easy to make. As rich as German Chocolate cake is, I couldn't stop at one piece. Yummy icing! Thank you for sharing.
