English Tea Cakes

"This recipe came from a little cafe in Tipp City, Ohio. These petite cakes are so good but very rich with the sauce on top. Instead of pecans, I have also used walnuts."

Questions & Replies

  1. I’ve had this tea cake at Coldwater Cafe in Tipp City, OH … so delicious. Questions: 1) Is your recipe the actual recipe of Coldwater Cafe or your estimate? 2) Do you cut the cherries into smaller pieces or leave whole? Thank you so much. Will try it and report back.

  2. How many ramekins? The one at the Coldwater Cafe was an individual round?

  3. I have a question about the English Tea Cake. I notices that there is no oil or butter in the cake? Just checking to see if something was missed or if this is all that is in the recipe for the cake?

Reviews

  1. I've made this recipe for years and I would say it's definitely the one from Coldwater Cafe! The recipe was given to me by someone who told me that she had submitted this as a recipe request to Bon Appetit magazine for their RSVP column. Coldwater Cafe did provide the recipe but it was never published. However, the recipe was given to the person who asked the question. The recipe is correct as written, no oil or butter. It's amazing!! I've had issues with trying to get the cakes to release from my pan for years and just decided to do some browsing to see if I could find help for that issue when I came across this recipe. Everyone who eats it wants the recipe!
