A tasty sauce you can throw together on those nights that you don't have much time or have unexpected company drop in. You can add meats, veggies or whatever your preference is to the sauce.
- 2 (850.48 g) can tomato sauce
- 14.79 ml olive oil
- 44.37 ml brown sugar
- 29.58-44.37 ml chopped onions
- 2.46 ml garlic powder
- 2.46 ml dried oregano
- 2.46 ml dried basil
- 2.46 ml dried parsley
- 2.46-1.23 ml paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- Stir all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 15-30 minutes.
- Serve over spaghetti.
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
This is a simple, handy recipe. I cut the sugar in half and added fresh garlic and onion, sliced black olives, and a splash of red wine. Nice over some angel hair pasta. Thanks Junebug.
Small number of ingredients, big taste...what an amazingly quick and delicious recipe! I didn't have the time or the patience to bother with an other spaghetti sauce recipe with a million ingredients that took over an hour to prep & cook. I read the measurements wrong and added a 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder, oregano, basil, parsley, paprika, and forgot to add the bay leaf, and it still came out quite good. I just popped all the ingredients in and let it simmer for 15 mins. At first it was a tad sweet because of the brown sugar, but I added half of a freshly squeezed lemon to the sauce, let it simmer for another 10 mins. and it was perfect. I loved the explosion of flavor, so i think i'll stick to the more generous measurements from now on. This is an AMAZING recipe that tastes better than any bottled spaghetti sauce I've ever had!
Loved how quick and easy this was to make. It was a thin sauce, and a little sweeter than I prefer, but tasty. Added a dash of red wine which went well with the spices. Next time I will halve the sugar, but keep everything else the same.
