Easy Savory Onion Meatballs-No Oven

  • Combine the first nine ingredients thoroughly in a medium sized bowl and refrigerate 15 minutes or so.
  • Heat the vegtable oil on medium heat in a large non-stick frying pan.
  • Form meat mixture into firm 1 -1 1/4 inch sized meatballs by rolling them in your clean hands.
  • Brown the meatballs in the frying pan in two batches and set aside (be very gentile as to not break them apart).
  • Fry the onion using about a tablespoon of the remaining oil a few minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Combine 2 cups hot water with the half envelope of onion soup mix and add to the onions in the frying pan along with the meatballs.
  • Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes flipping the meatballs once at 10 minutes and no more.
  • Remove meatballs from the pan leaving the onion broth.
  • Wisk 1/2 cup of the hot broth with the flour in a small bowl, then add it back to the frying pan and whisk to combine.
  • Add the meatballs back and spoon the gravy over them -simmer uncovered for 5 minutes
  • Serve with toothpicks as an appetizer or over buttered noodles.
