ingredients

• 2 cups cornmeal
• 1 medium onion, grated
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
• boiling water
• 1 dash salt and pepper
• 1 egg

directions

1. Mix corn meat, onions, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
2. Pour the boiling water in slowly and stir until batter is a tight paste.
3. Add slightly beaten egg, stirring until batter will fall off spoon in a lump.
4. For batter into balls and fry in very hot deep fat.
