- 1⁄3 cup salad oil
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (2 squares)
- 3⁄4 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3⁄4 - 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1⁄3 cup walnut pieces or 1/3 cup pecans
directions
- In an 8 inch square cake pan, combine oil and chocolate. Heat in 350F oven for 4 minutes -- stir.
- Add water, sugar, egg, flour, soda, salt and vanilla. Beat batter with fork until smooth, uniform and creamy (about 2 mins). Spread evenly in pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 350F for 40 mins until cake tests done.
- Great topped with whipped cream flavoured with creme de menthe.
