I love mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, and hot dogs so knew this would be a 5 star recipe! I used hot dogs and only added the caraway seed. Next time I will buy the sauerkraut with caraway seed and see how that works. If beer isnt on hand I think beef broth/stock would work very well as a substitute. Made and reveiwed for ZWT 6 - Seasoned Sailor and his Sassy Sirens.

My picky 3 y/o ate it (and asked for seconds!) and that alone is enough for a 5 star rating. It was easy (and I got to use those cute little canned potatoes!), yet another reason for 5 stars. I forgot the beer and dill, and it still tasted awesome (comfort food!) and I think that makes for a total of about 15 stars... Seriously, I would probably double the number of potatoes because the 4 of us fought over them, and I wish sauerkraut came in smaller cans since my kids didn't want any (you should have seen the 1 y/o's face when I fed her a bite, it was priceless), but we will be making this again, and soon. We used polish sausages (hot dog length) and dipped in spicy brown mustard (my 3y/o ate his on a hot dog bun). I think I'll try that horseradish sauce next time--I was just too lazy this time. Thanks for a great Fall/Winter dinner we all love!
